DESCRIPTION:The event aimed to expose students to real-world applications of photography\, with a focus on social responsibility and community engagement.\nThe programme brought together academicians\, environmental practitioners\, and students on a common platform for knowledge sharing and meaningful interaction. \nProgramme Highlights\nChief Guest Address:\nProf.R.Raja Govindasamy\, Former Principal\, Thiagarajar College\, emphasised creative responsibility and the role of education in shaping socially conscious professionals. \nExpert Knowledge-Sharing Sessions: \nDr.S.Nagarathinam highlighted the power of photographic documentation in driving social change and global awareness. \nMr.Raveendran Natarajan spoke on nature and bird documentation\, stressing biodiversity awareness and environmental responsibility. \nDr.C.Gladious Guna Ranjani encouraged students to see beyond the frame and practise ethical visual storytelling. \nRecognition & Awards:\n•Certificates and prizes were presented to student volunteers who documented joyful moments during Spreading Smiles – Diwali initiatives. \n•Special prizes were awarded to winners of the Art from Waste Competition\, recognising creativity and sustainability. \nKalpataru Perspective:\nReal-life stories were shared on how photography has supported the livelihoods of underprivileged communities and inspired social giving and community support. \nThe programme successfully connected students with the concept of Photography with Purpose\, motivating them to use their creative skills for social good\, livelihood promotion and community upliftment.

SUMMARY:International Volunteer Day 2025 - "Every Contribution Matters"
DESCRIPTION:Kalpataru Trust proudly celebrated International Volunteer Day on 5th December 2025 to honour the dedicated volunteers\, donors\, and supporters who have contributed significantly to our social development initiatives. The event aimed to appreciate their time and commitment to serve humanity. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Mr.Rajiv Jeyabalan\, Vice Chairman\, CII\, Madurai Zone\, Mr.Sundarapandian\, District Executive Officer\, TNRTP\, Tamil Nadu Government and Ms.Selvi Santhosam\, Trustee\, Kalpataru Trust. Their presence added immense value to the occasion and motivated all the participants. \nMr. Sarath Kumar\, Project Manager of Kalpataru Trust\, delivered a detailed presentation outlining the various social initiatives\, field activities\, achievements\, and overall impact achieved during the year. \nDonors who consistently supported Kalpataru’s mission were recognised and honored with appreciation mementos. The chief guests and trustee presented these tokens of gratitude. \nCertificates of Appreciation were awarded to all volunteers who actively contributed throughout the year. The chief guests congratulated each volunteer and acknowledged their dedication and hard work. \n  \n

SUMMARY:International Day of Zero Waste - Theme: Towards Zero waste in fashion and textiles.
DESCRIPTION:A total of 28 participants from diverse backgrounds attended the event. Participants included Textile manufacturers and retailers\, Fashion designers and upcycling experts\, women entrepreneurs working on cloth waste upcycling\, Trainers in upcycling and fashion design students from The American College.\n Insightful discussions were held on waste reduction\, upcycling methods and market potential. Opportunities for collaboration were explored and initial connections were established. Participants shared innovative ideas and experiences on transforming textile waste into usable products.
