Towards Promoting the Culture of “Giving for a Cause”, a Thrift Store was opened in March 2020 to receive donations in kind, mostly good-conditioned pre-owned items, which get refurbished, upcycled and displayed for sale. Regular counter sale and special sale events are conducted to encourage local buying, periodically. The sale proceeds are directed towards need based missions such as providing assistive equipment for the differently abled, medical assistance for the lonely elders and support to hapless folk artists affected by the recent Pandemic, benefitting 8500 Persons so far.

The sparingly used clothing and other materials are directly donated to old age homes and child- care facilities.

Since our inception, we have received numerous generous donations, including clothes, old and new furniture, electronic items, household decor, new towels, antique brass and bronze utensils, decorative pieces, paintings, showpieces, toys, books, utensils, accessories, art, artifacts, household decoratives and display items. We also welcome costume and artificial jewelry, bags, leather goods, upholstery, curtains, and any other items that can be donated.

School children and local philanthropists help this initiative in collecting, cleaning, upcycling, and selling of the said donations.

We have been successfully repurposing these donations, finding new homes for them. In the process, we also realize Kalpataru’s environmental mission of reducing and recycling waste.
